What are the major approaches outlined by the Constitution of India for Governance

Describe the different methods of governance outlined in the Constitution of India and how they have been implemented since its inception.
The Constitution of India provides for a democratic form of governance with a federal structure. The major approaches outlined in the Constitution for governance are as follows:
  • Parliamentary democracy - The Constitution provides for a parliamentary democracy with a bicameral legislature.
  • Federalism - The Constitution establishes a federal structure of government where powers are shared between the central and state governments.
  • Judicial Review - The Constitution establishes an independent judiciary and provides for judicial review of laws and actions of the government.
  • Socialism - The Constitution pursues socialist ideals through provisions for economic and social justice for all citizens.
  • Secularism - The Constitution provides for a secular state where all religions are treated equally.
These approaches have been implemented to varying degrees since the inception of the Constitution. While parliamentary democracy and federalism have been well-established in India, there have been challenges in implementing socialism and secularism. The judiciary has played a critical role in upholding the Constitution and ensuring the principles of governance outlined in it are adhered to.
