• The formation of State Disaster Management Authorities (SDMAs) at the state level to plan and implement mitigation measures.
• The provision of funds under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to ensure quick and effective response to natural calamities.
• The implementation of the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP) to reduce the vulnerability of coastal communities to cyclones and related hazards.
• The launch of the National Seismic Programme (NSP) to take measures for earthquake risk management.
• The setting up of Flood Forecasting Stations (FFS) in flood-prone areas across the country to provide timely warnings and prevent loss of life and property.

These initiatives have significantly improved the preparedness and response capabilities of India when it comes to natural disasters.
