  • The Health Ministry directed all states to ensure that medical facilities are equipped to deal with any health emergencies caused by the cyclone.
  • It advised states to pre-position drugs, disposables and equipment in readiness for prompt medical care.
  • The Ministry reminded states to ensure that hospitals, including those in COVID-19 hotspots, have adequate power backup and stock of oxygen cylinders.
  • It also reminded states to ensure that public health measures, such as safe water supply and sanitation, are safeguarded in the aftermath of the cyclone.
  • The Ministry had set up a control room to monitor the preparedness and response mechanism for public health matters.
These measures were taken to ensure that the country is prepared to deal with any health emergencies arising from the cyclone and to minimize potential loss of life.
