• The government has also taken preventive measures like evacuation of people from vulnerable areas to safer locations, providing shelter, adequate food and medical facilities to those affected.
• The Indian Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force are also deployed to assist in rescue and relief operations.
• The government has set up State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and trained people for disaster management and rescue operations.

Recently, in 2020, the government has taken additional measures such as setting up evacuation centers, stockpiling essentials like food and medicines, and improving communication facilities to ensure quick response in case of a cyclone. The government has also developed COVID-19 specific protocols to ensure the safety of people during evacuation and relief operations.
