India has been taking several steps to combat climate change and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Some of the measures taken by India are:
  • Setting a target to produce 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022
  • Establishing National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC)
  • Introducing the National Clean Energy and Environment Fund
  • Implementing the “Make in India” program to promote sustainable manufacturing practices
  • Banning single-use plastics in several states and cities
  • Launching Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to improve sanitation and waste management
  • Promoting afforestation and increasing forest cover by setting a target of achieving 33% forest cover
  • Taking steps to increase the use of electric vehicles by setting targets
  • Encouraging sustainable agriculture practices
These measures showcase India’s commitment towards achieving the SDGs and combating climate change. However, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.
