Explain the fundamental rights and duties of a citizen of India as mentioned in the Constitution of India.
The Constitution of India lays down the rights and duties of a citizen. Fundamental Rights:
  • Right to Equality
  • Right to Freedom including freedom of speech, expression, assembly, association, and movement.
  • Right Against Exploitation including prohibition of Human Trafficking, Forced Labour and Child Labour.
  • Right to Freedom of Religion.
  • Cultural and Educational Rights
  • Right to Constitutional Remedies
Fundamental Duties:
  • To abide by the Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions
  • To promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people of India
  • To uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India
  • To promote the scientific temper and spirit of inquiry
  • To safeguard public property and to abjure violence
  • To strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collective activity
  • To provide opportunities for education to his child/ward between the age of six and fourteen years.
It is the responsibility of every citizen of India to follow these fundamental rights and duties and contribute towards the development and progress of the nation.
