The Centre has written to States, advising them to maintain vigil in light of the rise in COVID-19 cases.
The Centre has given the following advice to the States amid the uptick in COVID-19 cases:
  • Maintain vigil: The Centre has advised States to remain vigilant and closely monitor the situation to identify any potential outbreaks or clusters of COVID-19 cases.
  • Implement containment measures: It has been recommended to enforce strict containment measures like testing, isolating positive cases, and tracing their contacts to break the chain of transmission.
  • Strengthen healthcare infrastructure: States have been advised to ramp up their healthcare infrastructure, including hospital beds, medical supplies, oxygen availability, and healthcare workers, to ensure adequate capacity for treating COVID-19 patients.
  • Promote COVID-appropriate behavior: The Centre has stressed the importance of promoting COVID-appropriate behavior among the public, including wearing masks, practicing hand hygiene, maintaining physical distance, and avoiding large gatherings.
  • Accelerate vaccination: States have been encouraged to expedite the COVID-19 vaccination drive by increasing the number of vaccination centers, improving the delivery of vaccines, and prioritizing high-risk groups.
These measures aim to control the spread of the virus and mitigate the impact of the rising COVID-19 cases in the country.
