Don’t use counselling to turn LGBTQ+ persons against their own identity, says Supreme Court
The Supreme Court advised against the following actions in relation to LGBTQ+ individuals:
  • Do not use counselling to coerce or pressure LGBTQ+ individuals to change their sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Avoid promoting or engaging in conversion therapy, which seeks to manipulate or alter a person's sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • Respect the autonomy and self-determination of LGBTQ+ individuals to embrace their own identities without interference.
  • Provide support and affirmation to LGBTQ+ individuals in navigating their identity and seeking acceptance in society.
  • Recognize and uphold the human rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ individuals in all aspects of life.
