There are several ways in which technology can be leveraged for good governance in India. Some of these include:
  • Transparent Decision Making - Technology can be used to provide citizens with transparent and real-time information regarding government decision-making, such as open data portals, live streaming of council meetings and public forums.
  • E-Governance - Technology can be used to improve the efficiency and transparency of government operations, such as online services for government forms, tax payment and online grievance systems.
  • Social Media - Communication via social media can help the government to increase citizen participation in governance processes and can be effectively used to disseminate information, increase transparency and accountability and gather feedback from citizens.
  • Mobile Applications – Effective use of mobile applications, such as access to real time weather, water availability updates, e-health, education services can be helpful, regarding transparency and accountability.
  • Aadhaar and Biometric Identification - Aadhaar and Biometric Identification can be used to streamline and ensure transparency and efficiency in government programs such as Public Distribution System, MGNREGA and many other schemes which helps in keeping the data properly updated.
By using these technologies, the Indian government can promote good governance, transparency, accountability, and citizen participation, ultimately leading to the growth and development of the country.
