Which Meitei extremist organisations have been banned under the UAPA by the MHA
MHA extends UAPA ban against eight Meitei extremist organisations.
Under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has extended the ban against eight Meitei extremist organizations. These banned organizations include:
- Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP): This group was formed in 1980 with the aim of establishing an independent socialist state in Manipur.
- Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL): Established in 1994, KYKL seeks to establish an independent socialist state of Manipur.
- People’s Liberation Army (PLA): Formed in 1978, PLA is the military wing of the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF). They seek to establish an independent socialist state in Manipur.
- Prepak (Pro), Prepak (Pro), or Revolutionary Peoples' Front (RPF): Formed in 1978, it is a political organization that seeks to establish an independent socialist state in Manipur.
- United National Liberation Front (UNLF): Founded in 1964, UNLF is a Meitei nationalist organization aiming to establish an independent Manipur.
- People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK): Established in 1977, PREPAK seeks to establish an independent socialist state in Manipur.
- People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive) (PREPAK, Progressive): This breakaway faction of PREPAK primarily operates in the hill areas of Manipur.
- Revolutionary Joint Committee (RJC): This organization is a conglomerate of several Meitei outfits formed in 2018 with the goal of establishing an independent Manipur.
