India strongly condemned China's move to block the designation of 26/11 accused Sajid Mir as a 'global terrorist' at the UN.

• India called it a 'disservice' to the international community's collective fight against terrorism.
• The Ministry of External Affairs expressed regret and disappointment at China's stance and called on it to reverse its position.
• India mentioned that it had provided extensive evidence to the UN Security Council's Sanctions Committee, making the case for Mir's designation as a global terrorist.
• India also highlighted that Mir was a key planner and handler of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks which had claimed the lives of 166 people, including 6 Americans.
• India emphasized that the fight against terrorism must not be selective or double standards in dealing with terrorism and terrorists.

India reiterated its commitment to fight against terrorism in all forms and called on the international community to join hands in the fight against this scourge which threatens global peace and stability.
