What progress has India made in the field of healthcare

India has been working towards improving healthcare services for its citizens.
India has made considerable progress in the field of healthcare in recent years. Some of the key achievements include:
  • Launch of Ayushman Bharat: The government launched the Ayushman Bharat program in 2018, which provides health protection cover of up to INR 5 lakh per family per year. This has enabled millions of Indians to access quality healthcare services.
  • Improved vaccination coverage: India has made significant progress in increasing vaccination coverage in recent years, with the introduction of several new vaccines. In 2019, India became the first country to be declared polio-free in the WHO South-East Asia region.
  • Reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates: India has made great strides in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates over the years.
