What progress has India made in the field of healthcare
India has been working towards improving healthcare services for its citizens.
- Launch of Ayushman Bharat: The government launched the Ayushman Bharat program in 2018, which provides health protection cover of up to INR 5 lakh per family per year. This has enabled millions of Indians to access quality healthcare services.
- Improved vaccination coverage: India has made significant progress in increasing vaccination coverage in recent years, with the introduction of several new vaccines. In 2019, India became the first country to be declared polio-free in the WHO South-East Asia region.
- Reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates: India has made great strides in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates over the years.
