What percentage of Sustainable Development Goals targets are currently on track according to Haoliang Xu, Assistant Secretary General of UNDP

Haoliang Xu, Assistant Secretary General of UNDP, has stated a percentage of Sustainable Development Goals targets that are currently on track.
According to Haoliang Xu, Assistant Secretary General of UNDP, not a single Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) target is currently on track to be achieved by 2030. However, he did highlight some progress that has been made on certain targets:
  • The number of people living in poverty has decreased globally.
  • The number of children receiving primary education has increased.
  • There has been significant progress in reducing child mortality rates.
  • The number of deaths from major infectious diseases has decreased.
Despite these positive developments, Xu emphasized the need for urgent action on the remaining SDGs targets. He stated that technological advancements, robust partnerships and innovative financial mechanisms are all necessary to accelerate progress towards achieving the SDGs by 2030.
