What is the need of constructing the new parliament house in India

The old parliament is functioning well, and there is no need to construct new buildings. In my view, it is unnecessary and a waste of money.

Here are the points on why there is a need to construct a new Parliament House in India:
- Space constraints: The existing Parliament House was built in 1927 and was not designed to accommodate a bicameral legislature for a fully-fledged democracy. The current capacity of the Lok Sabha (lower house) is 545 members, while the Rajya Sabha (upper house) has 245 members. However, the number of members of Parliament is expected to increase in the future due to population growth and delimitation of constituencies.
- Infrastructure Distress: The existing Parliament House is over 90 years old and has undergone several ad hoc modifications over the years. These modifications have strained the building's infrastructure and have made it difficult to accommodate the increasing number of members and staff.
- Concerns of Structural Safety: The existing Parliament House is not earthquake-proof and is located in a seismically active zone. There have been concerns about the structural safety of the building, especially after the 2001 Gujarat earthquake.
- Inadequate Office Spaces: The existing Parliament House does not have enough office space for the members of Parliament, their staff, and the parliamentary staff. This has led to overcrowding and a lack of privacy.
