The Centre is looking to design a Human Development Index (HDI) for 28 lakh Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) population in India due to the following reasons:

• PVTGs are one of the most marginalized and vulnerable communities in India, facing numerous socio-economic challenges.
• Existing development indices do not provide an accurate representation of the development status of PVTGs.
