The National Health Policy 2017, released by the Government of India has the following goals and objectives:

• Encouraging private sector participation: The policy aims to encourage greater participation of the private sector in healthcare delivery in order to improve the overall quality of healthcare services.
• Promoting research: The policy aims to promote research in healthcare in order to develop new drugs and treatment methods for various diseases and health conditions.
• Focusing on the health of vulnerable populations: The policy aims to place special emphasis on the health needs of vulnerable populations such as women, children, the elderly and those living in remote and rural areas of the country.
