• Exposing the actual facts of the incident - Often the people who are lynched are innocent and falsely accused. The media should be responsible for obtaining and presenting the actual facts of the incident to the public.
• Creating awareness and sensitivity - Campaigns and programs should be organized to raise awareness among communities and individuals about the dangers of lynching.
• Dialogue and discussion between different communities - This will address grievances, unify communities, and help break down prejudices.
• Adopting technology - Surveillance equipment like CCTVs could be installed at strategic points to identify perpetrators and deter lynching.

Recently, a man was lynched on suspicion of transporting beef in Maharashtra. The incident was covered extensively by the media and the perpetrators were brought to justice. The incident, however, underscores the need for increased sensitivity, awareness, and adopting technology to prevent such incidents. It was later reported that the meat was not beef. It was the slaughter of the cow on whose meat the suspicion arose to begin with, that was illegal in Maharashtra. There is a need to address these issues and prevent people from taking justice into their own hands.
