  • States can directly purchase rice from Food Corporation of India (FCI) by placing their orders with FCI.
  • The policy allowing this direct procurement by states is permissible as confirmed by the Food Minister.
  • States can specify their requirement of rice to FCI based on their needs and demand.
  • Direct procurement helps in better coordination between FCI and the states, ensuring timely supply and meeting the demands effectively.
  • This policy also streamlines the process of procurement and distribution of rice, benefiting both FCI and the states.
  • States can opt for this direct purchase route to ensure food security and meet the food grain requirements of their population.
