How can India tackle the issue of increasing number of malaria cases in the country

Recently, Tripura reported around 4,361 people infected with malaria. It is a cause of concern for the country which is already dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
To tackle the issue of increasing malaria cases in India, the government and various organizations can take the following measures:
  • Increase the availability of insecticide-treated mosquito nets in high-risk areas.
  • Encourage and educate people about the use of mosquito repellents, and indoor residual spray to prevent mosquito bites.
  • Ensure proper sanitation and waste management practices are in place, as stagnant water bodies become breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
  • Undertake routine screening and treatment of malaria cases to ensure that the disease is diagnosed and treated early.
  • Develop a malaria surveillance system for real-time monitoring of the disease prevalence, outbreaks, and drug-resistant malaria cases.
  • Fund research and development activities to develop effective and affordable vaccines and treatments for malaria.
  • Collaborate with neighboring countries to tackle the cross-border transmission of malaria.
By implementing these measures, India can effectively tackle the issue of increasing malaria cases and mitigate the impact of the disease on the health and wellbeing of the people.
